This work is based on the idea that graphic design seeks comprehensive knowledge of the human being, as well as understanding of the world under the commitment to transform and transmit ideas; in the case of graphic design, a latent intention is the dialogue promotion and the problems exposure to provide tools that help people to deal with the adversity. Based on the above, the aim is to analyze a methodology for graphic design projects applied by university students, under a vision focused on the understanding of deep needs, as well as research and transdiscipline, in addition to the understanding of violent scenarios and their transformation through discourses promoted by a speculative framework and visual communication. First, various approaches related to graphic design and its transdisciplinary vision are shown (Nicolescu, 1996), the types of alternative futures and their framework are also addressed, then the methodology that allows carrying out the projects is shown, followed of the reflection of the social and academic implications; then, an analysis of discourses created by the students to propose new scenarios and strategies for approaching social transformation is presented. Finally, graphic design is seen not as a problem solver, but as a bridge that allows people to learn about other social problems and provides tools to determine how to address and even solve different kind of difficulties through the construction of preferable futures. Graphic design allows people to get closer to common perception and explore the limits of what is possible, to see the future from the present and, with this, create visual messages that allow complex problems to be understood with dignity, respect, and sensitivity.
